Meet Ollie – a very admirable dog with no reason to feel ashamed. And he has one friend to reveal it to him.
Seven months ago, Ollie underwent a slight surgery, which left him with some stitches. After that, he was equipped with a protective collar – widely known as simply the “cone of shame” – so his wound could eventually heal without being disturbed. Of course, it was not a welcome new adornment for Ollie.
According to the dog’s owner, Alex, Ollie wasn’t happy with the cone on. He just moped all over and was feeling sorry for himself. Seeing Ollie feeling slightly down and alone about putting on the cone, Alex’s dad tried to soothe the dog’s mind by selflessly joining him in his burdensome circumstances.
Alex’s dad found another cone the family got in storage and then put it on himself. When she went to look for her dad and Ollie, she saw this.

Alex said she just burst out laughing and called her mom to come and see. However, they weren’t the only ones to have their spirit lifted by Dad’s sweet gesture. According to Alex, the dog seemed to be a little happier. Luckily for both Alex’s dad and Ollie, the cones were just a short-term thing.
The happy dog has since had his surgical stitches removed and was told to dump that “cone of shame.” Of course, Alex’s dad followed suit – his empathetic actions helped Ollie throughout his recovery while providing Dad with a clearer understanding of what the dog had been going through.
According to Alex, Ollie is doing great; his stitches have healed very nicely. The pup and Alex’s dad are now both cone-free. Ollie only needed to wear it for one week, and Dad only lasted a few hours.
