For about six months, people in a neighborhood in South Korea had been seeing a three-legged stray dog roaming in the park. They assumed that he was abandoned in their area.
When he was first spotted, he was thin and looked neglected. He started gaining weight when a good Samaritan in the neighborhood began feeding him regularly.
According to the woman, the dog that she called Sebal was friendly at first. They tried to catch him a couple of times but failed. Then he became very wary. He would not eat unless the woman went to a safe distance.
Sebal would not let any human go near him. However, he was friendly with other dogs. He would excitedly go over to play with them.
The people in the neighborhood were concerned about Sebal’s well-being. They wanted him rescued and brought to a good home.
A group of animal lovers called the Kritter Klub helped rescue Sebal. They put up a large cage in the spot where he usually ate his food. They also asked the owner of Sebal’s friend to help with the rescue. They put the other dog inside the cage to lure him inside.
Once he was rescued, they took him immediately to the animal hospital. According to the doctor, a car accident might have caused his leg injury. He did not receive medical treatment, so the wound did not heal properly. The accident left him with a broken, sharp-edged bone.
The doctors operated on Sebal to remove the broken bone. They nursed him right back to health and put him up for adoption. A kind woman applied to adopt him and was approved.
The woman renamed him Taegwang, a Korean word for sunlight. She wanted to give him a bright future.
She brought Taegwang to a large house with a spacious yard. The dog needed time to get used to his new environment, so the woman let him take a rest inside. One of the woman’s dogs was very friendly and welcomed him. He put Taegwang at ease.
After that, he was more comfortable. He was eating well, then went out to the yard with the other dogs. His relaxed manner was a good indication that he liked his new home. He finally found the loving home he deserved.
