A heart-meltingly cute puppy dropped off at a shelter stuffed into a cereal box has found a forever home. We’re sure the pooch is now much more comfortable there!
When Riverside County Animal Services posted a photo of a puppy who had just arrived at their Jurupa Valley Campus, people were intrigued. For some reason, the dog, whom the staff named Razz Berry, came in a Cap’n Crunch box.
According to the woman who dropped her off, she stumbled across Razz Berry at the dog park. However, a few employees think that the pup belonged to the litter the woman had put up for sale online.
However, she couldn’t be bothered to help Razz Berry get rid of her flea infestation, so the woman merely surrendered the puppy. The box was her way of preventing the parasites from crawling on her.
The woman might not have wanted Razz Berry, but the little canine’s charming looks caught the attention of many interested families. Once she was completely free of fleas, the puppy was ready for adoption.
Around 20 families turned up for Razz Berry’s gotcha day. Hence, Riverside County Animal Services decided to hold a draw so everyone would have an equal chance of bringing home the pup.
Soon, Teresa Sheets, her husband James, and their son Hayden were cradling Razz Berry in their arms. They drew the number closest to 100 and won the lottery!
Emotions ran high for the Sheets family. Their puggle, Ginger, died on the very same day they learned about Razz Berry. They were drawn to the pup, but they thought it was too soon for a new dog.
But there they were that weekend, all smiles after winning the cereal box pup. Coincidentally, they were looking for a white pooch to name Salt as their other pet, a Maltese-Yorkshire Terrier mix, is called Pepper.
However, it seems like the puppy’s moniker will remain as is. After all, as Teresa explains, it’s the name the shelter gave her. Watch Razz Berry with her new forever family in the video below:
