Sadie, a German Shepherd, is one of the bravest dogs that Dogwood Animal Rescue has ever seen. The poor dog was a victim of animal cruelty.
Sadie was found with a broken leg after she was allegedly shot and thrown in a garbage bag by her previous owner. Most dogs would have surrendered, but Sadie fought. According to the rescuer, Sadie wagged her tail and showered him with adoration when he found her.
Sadie is now in the vet clinic, receiving much-needed medical care. Throughout the treatment, she seemed happy, and nothing appeared to break her fighting spirit.
One morning, a field worker saw something unusual in a Tulare County grove in California. He noticed a garbage bag moving on the grass and found a puppy inside. The poor pup sneaked for the shade as soon as it was freed. The dog’s rear legs seemed to be broken, and she had at least two bullet wounds.
Robin Reed Galvan, who lives nearby and is passionate about dog rescue, came to help. The volunteers fed the dog before calling Tulare County Animal Services to arrange for the dog’s pick-up. Dogwood Animal Rescue, situated in Santa Rosa, instantly offered to take her in.
The rescue has named the dog Sadie, and they have been posting frequent updates on her recovery on their Facebook page. Unfortunately, according to the vet, Sadie had three broken legs caused by gunshot wounds to the shoulder and leg. As a result, she is set to have surgery.
Veterinarians will most likely only perform one leg every session to keep her sedated for as little time as possible. Her recovery will also take 10 to 12 weeks.
This incident, according to Galvan, serves as a great reminder to constantly be mindful of your surroundings. If no one had observed the shifting garbage bag, Sadie would not have lived.
