Readers’ hearts are always warmed by tales of rescued dogs finding permanent homes. This is because most dog lovers want only the best for dogs, even if they are not their own. In the end, they share the same happiness that the dog feels on the day that it is finally adopted.
This dog’s adoption has a very touching backstory. Before being adopted, Bonita, a pitbull, resided at the SafeHaven Humane Society for approximately 500 days. According to the volunteers, Bonita’s breed made it difficult for her to find a new home. They also said that adopters reject the thought of adopting pit bulls since the breed has a negative image.
One Christmas day, however, both the volunteers’ wish and the dog’s need for a new home were granted. A man named Ray Kinz decided to adopt Bonita, the longest resident of the shelter. Ray stated that it was not a difficult choice for him. He also added that, unlike other individuals, he does not look into a dog’s breed.
For Ray, what is important is that a dog is kind and compassionate. According to him, Bonita had these characteristics since, upon their first encounter, he established an instant bond with the dog. The dog reciprocated his kindness by licking his face.
This event melted his heart, and he made a quick decision. Ray immediately informed the volunteers that he would assume custody of Bonita. However, before he could do so, he had to provide all required documentation so that the adoption could be processed.
It was a dramatic day for Ray, as the adoption occurred on Christmas. He stated that he only wants to provide Bonita with the life she deserves. Ray pledged that he would do everything possible to keep his word.
