This Chocolate Labrador named Kipper has one of the most extraordinary fur parents. This is because the dog’s dad used to be a stand-up comedian. During his heydays at the theater, Clayton Kroeker would often make fun of fur parents and their way of raising their dogs.
Five years later, though, Clayton found himself in the same boat as the ones he previously dissed. Clayton and his wife adopted Kipper, and the little dog changed their lives for the better.
However, when the dog was one year old, Kipper got diagnosed with tear ducts, which eventually affected her eyesight. But Kipper’s parents did not give up on her easily. They brought the dog to an expert so the dog could undergo more tests.
The expert then advised the couple that Kipper should undergo surgery. The surgery, though, is not a hundred percent assurance that Kipper will not lose her eyesight. But before the surgery, the dog developed more complications, making it challenging to cure her condition.
Since the dog’s left eye was greatly affected, Kipper’s fur parents had no other choice but to have it removed. The real reason for this is to prevent any discomfort that the dog might feel. The parents thought that Kipper was free from any trouble. However, a few months later, the dog had a similar issue in her remaining eye.
With the same predicament, Clayton and his wife decided to have the eyes removed. However, before that, they both agreed that they should hit the road before Kipper completely loses her eyesight.
For almost a week, the family traveled around Canada and allowed Kipper to enjoy the activity. Although sad, Clayton would like to give Kipper happy memories before the dog’s surgery.
According to the veterinarians, Kipper can still have a good life despite having all her eyes removed. With this, Clayton and his wife promised to be there every day for their beloved dog.
Me 5 years ago: ‘People are so extra with their dogs. It’s just a pet, chill.’
Me now: took 10 days off so my dog could have an epic adventure before she loses her other eye and goes blind. pic.twitter.com/kcKM8mc3hc
