It’s safe to say that most people provide dogs with the best treatment possible. However, for whatever reason, there are still some humans who are cruel to animals. They would even harm these animals even if the dogs have not been doing them anything untoward.
Last year, this was the unfortunate fate that Monika, the dachshund mix, had.
A woman named Alla Leonkina was eventually given the responsibility of caring for Monika. With the assistance of her friend, this kind Samaritan gave Monika a second chance at life. However, Alla felt she had to take action regarding the dog’s missing paws.
She conducted some research and discovered Dr. Sergei Gorshkov, a veterinarian from Novosibirsk, Russia. He has performed over 30 procedures on animals with missing limbs and paws, including a quadruple implant on a cat. However, he has never performed quadruple implants on a canine.
Dr. Gorshkov acknowledged that Monika’s case was particularly difficult, as not only was it the first time he performed four implants on a dog, but he and his team also had to create four titanium prostheses to match Monika’s legs. As anticipated, this procedure was costly, but Alla was able to raise $5,400 to cover the cost.
Now that Monika is walking normally, we can anticipate that she will soon be playing fetch and chasing squirrels. Monika is quite fortunate that Alla devoted herself to giving this magnificent dog the ability to move around freely. The dog will have to learn how to walk with her new paws for the time being. However, we are confident that the dog will get there step by step.
