Owning a dog is definitely a lifelong commitment that entails a lot of responsibility. Aside from loving your pet unconditionally, there are a lot of expenses as well.
Sometimes, some families, with all the purest of intentions, have to give up their dogs. They don’t want to, but financial difficulties have forced them to do so.
If they don’t get anyone to take the dog from them, like family and friends, their next recourse should be to surrender the dog to a shelter. There are local shelters though that ask for fees, money that they can’t afford to part with. This is what the staff at the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control thinks is what happened with Miah and her owners.
Pleading note
Miah is a mixed-breed dog that was found abandoned at a truck stop in Avondale, Arizona. It was very hot that day, and the one-year-old dog was suffering from the long exposure to the sun. Fortunately, someone eventually took pity on her and called for rescuers.
When the responders arrived, they were pleasantly surprised that the dog was very gentle and sweet despite the conditions surrounding her at that time. They immediately thought that this dog was raised in a loving home. When they got closer, their suspicions were confirmed. The dog’s collar had a small note attached to it.
The note stated her name and also said that she is housebroken and homeless. It ended with a plea for help.
Emotional
The shelter staff was heartbroken as they could feel the pain of the dog’s former owners. This made this particular rescue more emotional for them. Plus, the dog was so sweet and playful that they know that she will be dearly missed.
To help the dog, they plan to make sure that they find her the perfect home. Her former owners might be watching, and it could make them happy to know that their beloved pet will be loved and cherished.
