We all love our doggies so much and it’s hard to think that someday we will have to say goodbye after death! There are many ways you can lay your beloved dog to rest, but one of the most popular methods is burying your doggy in the backyard. So you don’t have to pay for a burial plot. But did you know that there are many reasons why you shouldn’t bury your doggy in the backyard?
Natural Gas
Did you know that natural gas has been found to leak from underground gas lines into the ground near homes? And after death, if you bury your dog, he could be in danger of this gas leaking into his resting place.
Septic Tank Issues
Most septic tanks are buried in the backyard with a drainage field around them. If your dog is buried too close to either of these, he could be at risk of septic tank leakage. This is a terrible way for your dog to go! You should definitely avoid burying him anywhere near where these items are located.
Your Dog Could Resurface
If the ground has not been prepared correctly, your dog could return to the surface when it rains or there is a change in temperature (if this happens just before winter).
Second, if you have multiple pets or children who play outside, there is a chance that they will dig up the animal and disturb it in some way. This is upsetting for everyone involved and can be harmful to your other pets’ health.
It Might Be Illegal Burying Your Dog in the Backyard
There are many regulations regarding where and how to dispose of a dead animal. These vary from state to state, so if you choose this option, make sure that you check with your local government to see what your options are. If you do not follow these regulations, you could face fines or jail time—and no one wants that!
