In Mansfield, Texas, two Golden Retrievers – Peaches and Duke – recently kissed in a doggy wedding. Peaches and Duke are therapy dogs who help patients receiving physical therapy at Methodist Mansfield’s Physical Medicine Department. They work closely with patients to alleviate their discomfort and provide constant support during their rehabilitation.
Pet Partners, an organization that promotes animal-assisted therapy, health, and well-being, has registered the two canines. Having a dog by one’s side has been shown to lower blood pressure in patients; thus, it goes without saying that their presence brightens everyone’s day.
The duo is frequently spotted snuggling, kissing, and even having Starbucks cappuccinos. There’s no doubting that these two have an incredible connection, so the Methodist Mansfield employees planned a charming event to honor it.
Caesar Rentie, Vice President of Pastoral Services for Methodist Health System, officiated the wedding in which the two dogs exchanged their “I dos.” A white carpet decorated with rose petals led them down the aisle, Duke wore a handsome tuxedo, and Peaches wore a lovely bridal gown. They’ve received a certificate for their canine nuptials. They will remember this day for the rest of their lives.
Following the ceremonies, the newlyweds helped to smash a doggy wedding cake. The celebration was packed with the personnel and patients this canine pair works tirelessly to serve, indicating how much they are appreciated.
They returned to work immediately after finishing their wedding cake. Then, the two dogs returned to their regular duties, assisting the same patients who had made an effort to attend their wedding.
The news of this lovely wedding ceremony has now made its way across the country’s news channels. Peaches and Duke hope to launch a campaign to encourage the use of service dogs in hospitals worldwide.
