Husky On The Brink Of Death Gets Rescued And Given A Second Chance At Life

Husky On The Brink Of Death Gets Rescued And Given A Second Chance At Life

Joseph McNair February 7, 2022

Founder Laura Jean of a rescue organization named This Is Houston has met dogs in unpleasant situations. However, there’s nothing comparable to what the dog in this story has experienced. This inspiring story is about Jake, a Husky.

One day, Laura was tagged in a post about a Husky in a backyard located in Cleveland, Texas. It stated that the dog collapsed out of nowhere. No one surely knew where he came from but by then, Laura knew she had to help this poor dog.

When she arrived at the location, Laura immediately made sure if the Husky was alive. She had to as the poor dog was so emaciated and laid motionless on the ground. One couldn’t even recognize the breed at all!

As she went to feel him while hoping her worries won’t become reality, the Husky weakly lifted its head as if relieved to see someone in his aid. Fortunately, he was breathing but barely.

Knowing the dog was alive and breathing was enough to keep Laura going. So, she called for assistance in getting the emaciated pup loaded in her car. She then set out for an hour long drive to the hospital.

During their trip to the ER, she kept on checking the Husky, which she later named Jake, to make sure he was alive. Thankfully, he did stay that way until their arrival.

Laura only saw the extent of Jake’s condition when they arrived. She found out he had multiple diseases and worse, she couldn’t even see his eyes beyond the matted fur and infection!

But after a week of intensive care and constant medication, Jake’s eyes slowly revealed themselves and showed the most beautiful color – light blue.

More weeks came and, Jake slowly recovered and gained weight. Now, he’s the most beautiful dog. One wouldn’t even know he was this sickly, emaciated pup from before.

As for his forever home, he did find one. Where, you ask? In Laura Jean’s house where he always belonged.

He also currently lives with another rescue dog named Jasper. Kudos to Laura for believing in Jake!

Thanks to Jake & Jasper for the photos.
