Concerned Hikers Rescue Dog Lost In A Mountain – Reunites Him With Injured Owner

Concerned Hikers Rescue Dog Lost In A Mountain – Reunites Him With Injured Owner

Joseph McNair August 20, 2022

The mountains of Colorado are a  favorite destination for both beginner and experienced hikers. They offer a wide variety of challenges and the most eye-popping views. One of the tallest and most stunning mountains there is Mount Harvard, with a peak reaching 14,421 feet.

Sometimes, nature lovers even take their dogs on their climbing activities. Most of them are well-trained and are familiar with the area. But despite that, there are still dangers that could happen to these creatures. Such as slipping on the snow or getting lost in the wilderness.

The latter is what happened to a dog named Stuart.

Injured owner

Stuart and his owner have climbed Mount Harvard several times already. They frequently return because they find the experience to be exhilarating. It was always a good bonding moment for them as well.

But one day, the dog’s owner started to feel sick while they were on near the peak of the mountain. He developed an altitude sickness, which was unusual for the experienced hiker. The man decided to go back down before his condition got worse.

As they were moving down the trail, they came across a treacherous pass where rocks quickly get loose when disturbed. The hiker slipped and broke his shoulder. Stuart panicked and ran away.

The dog owner tried to look for his pet, but he was in too much pain. He had no choice but to get down and go to a hospital.

Collaborative help

The hiker’s friends learned about Stuart getting lost, so they posted photos of the pooch online. A local animal rescuer saw the post, and she put up posters and handed out notices near the foot of the mountain.

Several hikers saw the notices and teamed up to form a rescue team. Amazingly, the dog stayed near the area where he got lost, and they quickly found him. The friendly pup went with them when they went down the mountain. Stuart was then brought to the animal rescuer.

The very next day, the relieved dog owner went to pick up his pet. He and his dog had a very emotional reunion, and the owner was thankful to everyone who helped get them back together.
