Dog In A Grooming Facility Escapes Its Kennel So She Could Comfort The Dogs That Were Crying

Joseph McNair January 2, 2023

A dog that was at an animal boarding facility in Canada captured the hearts and attention of the employees. The dog showed compassion for the puppies and other dogs that cried throughout the night.

This precious doggy is Maggie, a mixed breed with golden fur. She has been a frequent customer of Barker’s Pet Motel and Grooming Center.

One night, she escaped her kennel. The employees believed the dog just wanted to escape. However, upon watching the security footage, they were moved by the dog’s motive.

Maggie apparently heard the dogs in a nearby kennel crying. The dog joined the terrified animals and decided to stay outside their kennel to give them comfort.

Alex Aldred works at the boarding facility and he claimed that they had never had a guest before that was concerned about the other doggo guests.

Security cameras in the facility captured what Maggie did. The security staff also saw Maggie leaving her kennel that night. And before they returned the dog to her spot, they observed where she was and what she was doing.

Sandy is Alex’s mother and she also works at the facility.  Upon learning about what Maggie did, she quickly returned to her place of work to personally look into the matter. There, she observed the adorable dog trying to comfort the crying puppies. Seeing that there was nothing to worry about, Sandy allowed all three dogs to be together throughout the night.

Sandy saw how Maggie just wanted to help the puppies not be sad anymore. She also saw how the pups positively reacted to Maggie’s presence so she allowed Maggie to stay inside the pups’ kennel. They appeared to be calmer with Maggie there.

The next day, the puppies were seen cuddling with Maggie.

Deanna Thompson works at the Alberta Animal Resc8e Crew Society and she said that Maggie’s behavior is not surprising. Maggie used to be a stray and also had her own puppies. She probably just wanted to comfort the puppies because she knew how it was to be alone. Deanna also said that Maggie’s act of goodwill is a great feature that most rescue dogs show.
