Dogs that are trained well can be very good companions for kids. That’s why a lot of parents make sure their dogs are also excited when a baby is about to be born.
Here’s what it looks like when a dog is just as enthusiastic as the parents for an upcoming birth.
Argento is a well-trained and well-behaved German shepherd who is waiting for something special. His owners are expecting a baby boy, and he’s drowning in anticipation. Each day, the dog often licks the mother’s belly. Argento also watches the father prepare items the baby will need, such as a cradle.
When the baby was born, Argento was cautious. He knew the infant was fragile, so he was careful not to get too close. Still, he observed the baby with great interest.
Argento is a perfect nap buddy for his little brother. He would sleep near the infant while still being on guard. There is no instance where the two of them are in separate rooms. It seemed like Argento was waiting for the day that the kid would be big enough to actively play with him.
When the baby gained better mobility, Argento was stoked. He gave the baby more licks or kisses but still maintained his gentle approach. The baby, on the other hand, became more touchy. This was something that the dog didn’t mind at all.
Argento and the babies are only starting their relationship. So far, they’ve spent several months and several seasons getting to know each other. They have a lot more activities to do once the baby grows older. The owners are also looking forward to seeing how their son and dog’s friendship will deepen.
Many dogs behave the way Argento does around a child. Some of them are in rescue shelters waiting for someone to give them a home. Perhaps someone out there reading this will be inspired to adopt a pet to become their child’s companion as well.
