A Man Stays In The Shelter To Help A Rescue Pit Bull Find Its Forever Home

A Man Stays In The Shelter To Help A Rescue Pit Bull Find Its Forever Home

Joseph McNair June 5, 2023

A two-year-old Pit Bull named Queenie was discovered hiding behind a garbage dumpster. She was emaciated and in a poor state. Those who found her brought her to the Great Plains Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), an independent no-kill shelter in Kansas, where she remained for over 400 days.

Nobody wanted to adopt the kind and affectionate dog. The personnel at the shelter were perplexed and had no idea why this was so. Fortunately, a man called Scott Poore learned about Queenie’s predicament and offered to help her out.

Scott founded Mission Driven by doing whatever was necessary. It is a firm that sells pet-themed apparel and merchandise to generate donations for animal shelters and to rescue abandoned pets.

He believed that the best way to have Quennie adopted was to expose her to as many people as possible. Therefore, he intended to move in with her and remain at the shelter until she was adopted. And that is precisely what he did.

Scott, along with a few of his essentials, created a place for himself in Queenie’s kennel and stayed with her. He began recording their interactions on video and posting them online.

The first few days were rather quiet. There were a few internet interactions and responses. However, Scott persevered. He constantly posted updates and showcased what a fantastic dog Queenie was. He also blogged about their journey to get ice cream and also talked about their routine when they would get ready for sleep.

After a few days, his posts began to get the attention that he was aiming for. More individuals began to share them, and queries began to pour in. Interest started rolling in and it looked like Queenie was getting adopted soon.

A couple ultimately adopted the dog after Scott had been staying at the shelter for a week. On the day that Queenie was to be taken home, the personnel of the shelter queued up outside to offer Queenie a fond farewell. Everyone applauded as she exited the building and walked directly to her new owner’s vehicle. Scott, ecstatic with joy, even took her leash.

Thankfully, the dog has found a permanent home. Her new fur mom’s social media posts revealed how content she is now.
