Herschel, a German Shepherd, went through a lot in life. The dog lived with chains in a backyard for the last five years. His owners did not show affection for him, leading to the deterioration of his health. Herschel’s teeth were severely damaged after his failed attempts to chew himself free.
An unnamed neighbor reported the dog’s condition to an animal rescue, which later led to the dog’s recovery. After he was rescued, Herschel was adopted twice. However, in both instances, he was also returned by those who adopted him.

The poor dog does not understand why people do not like him. Fortunately, things started to change after Herschel got noticed by Rocky Tanaka. Tanaka features rescued dogs on his vlogs, hoping a loving family would adopt them. In his vlog for Herschel, the kind man brought the dog to the beach.
It was the first time the dog visited the beach because he was so excited throughout the trip. Herschel’s excitement manifested on his face when they reached the shore.
The dog did not waste any moment and enjoyed himself on the beach. Tanaka secretly filmed the precious moment while enjoying himself at the crashing waves. The dog’s enjoyment at the beach was the subject of his vlog.
A family from Washington saw Tanaka’s video of Herschel and immediately took an interest in adopting the latter. They then kept in touch with Tanaka, telling the dog advocate about their plans to take the dog under their custody. Upon hearing this, Tanaka knew he had done his part in looking for a potential new home for Herschel.
It did not take long before Herschel’s new family brought him home. From time to time, the dog’s family gives updates about the dog through Herschel’s Instagram page. They now named the dog Teddy Bear Herschel, and he now has over 2,000 followers online.
